MessageMe on Ubuntu Touch — install (portable tar.gz)

This is NOT an OpenStore / click package.
Do NOT tap the "messageme" file in File Manager and choose App Store —
install will fail with "not a valid click package".

Steps
-----
1. Download messageme-ubuntu-touch-arm64-*.tar.gz
2. Extract the MessageMe folder somewhere permanent, e.g.:
     ~/apps/MessageMe
(Not only Downloads — after a reset, keep a stable path.)
3. Open Terminal and run:
     cd ~/apps/MessageMe
     chmod +x install-launcher.sh messageme messageme-launch.sh 2>/dev/null
     ./install-launcher.sh
That command finishes by itself — you can close Terminal afterward.
4. Open the app drawer and pull down to refresh.
5. Tap the MessageMe icon (do not launch from Files).

After a factory reset the drawer icon is gone until you run step 3 again
(or once: ./messageme-launch.sh — it installs the icon before starting).
Do not rely on leaving the app running in Terminal; that only shows a
temporary “running app” entry that disappears when you stop the process.

Background notifications
------------------------
While MessageMe is open, new messages use Lomiri Postal (same notification
center as Teleports).

To also get banners when the app is fully closed:
  1. Sign in
  2. Settings → Notifications → turn on Background notifications
  3. Optionally choose New message only vs Show message content
  4. Keep the phone online (Wi‑Fi or mobile data)

This starts a small always-on listener (`messageme --notify-watcher` via a
systemd user unit). It uses a little extra battery. Encrypted chats always
show a generic “New message” body.

On-screen keyboard
------------------
Flutter is a GTK app and Ubuntu Touch ships no GTK Maliit module, so the
system keyboard used to be unavailable. MessageMe now carries that module in
`lib/maliit/` and points GTK at it on startup — nothing to install, and the
read-only rootfs is untouched.

If the Lomiri keyboard still does not appear when you tap a text field, tap
"No keyboard? Tap for the in-app keyboard" just above the keyboard area. The
app then uses its own keyboard until the next MessageMe version.

Voice messages
--------------
Recording uses PulseAudio `parecord` (usually already present on Ubuntu Touch).
System `ffmpeg` is NOT required for voice notes.

If recording fails with a tools error:
  sudo mount -o remount,rw /
  sudo apt update
  sudo apt install -y pulseaudio-utils
  sudo mount -o remount,ro /

Updates
-------
In-app: Settings → App updates (bundled updater).
